Metamorphosis: Columbine
The Wild Columbine flashes an array of color against the rocky slopes of high mountain meadows. This plant is ruled by the air elementals. Perhaps you can feel the floating quality, almost as if suspended in space. Emerging from the plant is the Milbert's Tortoiseshell, a butterfly that makes its home in mountain meadows as well. The larvae, or caterpillar stage, remain in clusters until fully grown and ready to form the pupa.
This watercolor from the Flower Spirit Collection by Jean Herzel was inspired by dreams of the plant spirits, as are all of Jean's paintings in this series. It is available for sale as a fine art giclee print. The print measures 18" X 26" unframed. It is printed with fine pigment inks on Arches archival paper for superb longevity. The colors are vibrant and true to the original watercolor and the print will last a lifetime. The edition is limited to 100 and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
By popular request, Jean is now offering a smaller print version, created to the same archival standards as the larger ones. This print measures approximately 11" X 15" unframed and is limited to an edition of 100. It is the perfect size to frame in a standard 16" X 20" frame, making framing affordable.
